Norfolk Southern has a small locomotive maintenance depot off the Bedford Road, in North KC, and a freight yard adjacent. At 10.14 outside the depot stands SD40-2 no. 3563, Dash 9-44CW no. 9728, and GP38-2 no. 5084 is seen poking out of the shops building, all viewed from Railroad Avenue.

We had an interesting encounter with an NS police officer on this visit, the result of us straying over the boundary a bit too far! Although he was doing his job he was extremely courteous and friendly, and gave us a few tips as to where to see trains in the area.
