The new pattern of working the Imerys china clay train between Cornwall and The Potteries sees it operating via Westbury in both directions. Up on Thursday via Westbury, back from Cliffe Vale on Friday, as far as Westbury, recessing there, and then back to Cornwall on the Saturday morning.
The loco in Cornwall works up to Westbury, a new loco seems to take the train from there to and from Cliffe Vale, and then often a new loco returns to Cornwall from the Wiltshire town on the Saturday.
The past few weeks this has been alternating between DC Cargo Class 66s nos. 66063 and 66054. Today it's 66054s turn! Seen here passing Wick on the Somerset Levels at 11.20, with the 6V76 10.35 Westbury Down T. C. to Goonbarrow Junction. The train today comprises eleven JIA hoppers.
