12th August 1987

Class 87 no. 87031 "Hal O' the Wynd" rushes through on the 11.20 London Euston to Liverpool Lime Street. I had to look up to find out what, or who, Hal o' the Wynd was. The name referred to Henry Gow, the blacksmith and armourer from the novel "The Fair Maid of Perth" written by Sir Walter Scott.
