The European! Class 86/2 no. 86236 "Josiah Wedgwood" has the 1S85 07.50 Harwich Parkeston Quay to Glasgow Central and Edinburgh service at the platform, ready for the "off". "The European" boat train started running in 1983 and went via Peterborough and the ECML, but in May 1987 it was rerouted via North London and the WCML. The rain ran this way until it ended as a loco-hauled service in May 1988.
