Welcome to my photographic portfolio, featuring (mostly) trains and railways, from the UK, North America, and other foreign shores.

Well, I've been working on this project for a few years now and what a great time it has been. Combining some of my more interesting images from the current scene along with a look back into my archives I have enjoyed building what I hope is an entertaining website with plenty of variety. Having been a loyal user of 35mm film since the early 1980s, I was a very late arrival on the digital scene, acquiring my first full DSLR in 2015. A little later than most!

I'll continue to introduce various portfolios of the earlier years, delving into my extensive transparency archive, when time permits. I have been very privileged to be able to travel to some great train-watching locations, and my ongoing efforts to record the UK railway scene when opportunity presents itself have enabled me to present this collection of portfolios and reminiscences that you will hopefully enjoy browsing. Writing the captions has allowed me to delve into my notes (I've been a compulsive note-taker on my photographic expeditions ever since I started!) and recall events from many years ago. It's been a fascinating journey for me, and hopefully some of you will find it equally pleasurable, but nevertheless, if you have any comments or constructive feedback feel free to say so.

Blog: a trip down memory lane, or a current event - something that prompts a story.

Gallery: browse the galleries to find a location of interest. I've always catalogued my images by location so this section is grouped by country, followed by place, with a sample image to give you a flavour of what lies beyond.

Search: if all else fails, use the search facility to look up a particular place, locomotive or unit number, date, train, etc.
