Thornaby & Tees Yard

My once and only visit to Thornaby Depot was in 1999, and at the time it was still an active depot, maintaining mostly Class 56s and 37s, although some of the latter were by this time being laid-up, awaiting in the inevitable. Tees Yard still remains, but as with all marshalling yards in the UK, it is a pale reflection of what it once was, the vastness of the site being overwhelmed by wasteland, with just a fraction of the track-work left. But it is still a staging point for some freight.
