Sutton Bingham, Somerset
Sutton Bingham once had a very small station, a halt really, and this closed in 1962. It's a very rural location and the main attraction for me was the close proximity of the railway and reservoir. This was a nice setting for photography, and although I have not returned here for some time, the line side vegetation will certainly have been allowed to grow up since my shots taken in the early 1990s. The reservoir was created in the 1950s, in order to provide a water supply for Yeovil. There was an old mill here which is now submerged under the water, and a 12th century church sits alongside the shore. Today the location is a popular sailing and canoeing centre, and a popular site for bird watching.
