Scout Green, Cumbria
Close to the summit of the famous Shap incline, this is a favourite stopping-off point for me when travelling to and from Scotland. Often I will overnight at the Shap Wells Hotel, just a mile or two away, and take a few morning photos before heading off: weather dependent of course, as you can imagine that it can be somewhat bleak and desperate at times, being nearly 1000 feet above sea level! Great for southbound morning shots, it's a little more challenging for northbound morning views, and with the northbound M6 section just behind you it can be a little noisy. But the view is still very appealing.
