Woodland scene - no. 3 "Irish Mail" waits with her train to Becconsall station. The round trip takes only about 20 minutes, running through the woods, passing the back gardens of the houses in Railway Street, Hesketh Bank, before ending up at Delph station. You could for forgiven for thinking that this line runs on a former BR branch line, like me, but it does not. This area was once dominated by clay pits and a brickworks.
