Located at the head of Encounter Bay, 84km from Adelaide, the Victor Harbour Tramway operates from the mainland across a causeway to Granite Island. The line opened in 1867 but the first horse drawn tram started to run in 1894. Nowadays it is a tourist operation open every day. Having arrived at Victor Harbour on the Cockle Train, we've now travelled over to the island by horse-power. Here is one of the horse-drawn trams on the causeway returning from Granite Island.
