30th Aug 1985 - London Liverpool Street
Station pilot Class 08 no. 08542 stands idle, waiting for its next duty, To think that London mainline termini once had the need for a pilot loco to draw back stock! The track does look a bit scruffy, actually, with litter spoiling the view, but indicating the general ambience of London stations at the time. Today the experience is considerably more cleaner and tidier! Built in 1959 08542 sports a wooden cab door: it lasted in service until 2000 and was scrapped in 2006.
