24th Sept 1987 - Lostwithiel, Cornwall
At the time of this shot the famous OOV china clay hood wagons had less than six months to go before withdrawal. Here is a bunch of them stabled alongside the down platform and in the sidings. No. B743253 is nearest to the camera - you can see the opening door on this end, which opened to disgorge its load when the wagon was tipped up at the unloading dock at Carne Point, down the Fowey branch which lead off to the right of this view. Built in the late 1950s, they could each carry 13 tons.
