Lime Street always had a few Class 31s hanging around during the 1990s, in between Trans-Pennine services, and Regional Railway's dedicated fleet of 31/4s looked smart in the blue and grey livery. Class 31/4 no. 31455 "Our Eli" stands at the blocks on the middle road waiting for its next train.

Our Eli? The stage name of comedian Eli Woods. No, I hadn't heard of him either. 31455 was scrapped at Wigan in February 2000.
