20th April 1991

Away from the fueling road, and further back from the maintenance building, a line of Class 31s could be found. 31296, 31180, and tucked behind, 31327. Once named "Phillips Imperial", but losing the name in 1990, 31327 carried a variant of the original Railfreight grey livery. It was eventually preserved and currently (2019) resides on the Strathspey Railway at Avimore.
31296 was once a Bristol Bath Road locomotive, often seen by me somewhere on the old Western Region, including Exeter.
