(1) This sequence of 5 shots at 12.50 show the arrival and departure of a Badulla to Columbo train. In this view the train approaches from the south, as seen from the north end of the station, with a good number of passengers waiting to board. This was the shut down season for the major textile factories in Columbo, so many of the wealthier workers were presumably taking their vacations in the highlands, away from the intence heat and humidity of the lower regions. The weather here was warm for sure, but in no way as hot and humid in other areas of the country at this time of year.
