22nd April 1989 - Tilbury Riverside, Essex
The old order at Tilbury Riverside, with two Class 302 EMUs, and possibly a third in the background. 302212, in BR blue and grey, is working the 13.15 Tilbury Riverside to Upminster service. Celebrity 302200, in BR green, is stabled alongside.

This visit to Riverside station was part of our Network South East day trip exploration of lines in Essex, but little was I to know that this station would close within 3 years and become a glorified car park!

Built by BR at York and Crewe works, 112 x 4-car sets in this Class were built, but apart from two individual cars preserved at the Mangapps Farm Railway Museum, the rest were all scrapped by 1999.
