The Okefenokee Railroad is a 1.5 mile tourist train running within the Okefenokee Swamp Park, near Waycross. This mural on the side of a building next to the railroad at Folkston might be celebrating this railroad, but another previous railroad operated into the Okefenokee Swamp in the early years of the 20th Century, the Waycross & Southern, and I am sure that this picture illustrates that railroad. It operated as a lumber carrier, from 1910 to 1927, on what was to be known as the "Okefenokee Route". I hope the size of the alligator is exaggerated!
