Holytown, North Lanarkshire

The station is on the Shotts Line and is actually located in New Stevenston. It was built in 1880, although all the original buildings have long gone. The attraction of this station is its location just south of Mossend Yard, with a number of freight services passing to and from the yard, either via the Shotts line from Edinburgh, or off the WCML, via Carstairs and Law Junction. The general pattern seems to be services into Mossend during the morning, and out from mid to late afternoon.
