(1) With a high-pressure weather system sitting comfortably over the south of England, and the resulting settled and cold, but beautifully sunny, conditions tempting me out, I catch my first shot of the new decade today!
I am at the bridge at Wick, near Curry Rivel, with Freightliner Class 66 no. 66552 "Maltby Raider" passing with a short 10 wagon train forming the 6C24 12.00 Exeter St. Thomas to Westbury Down T. C. engineering trip. The time is 15.30 and the train is running a tad later than scheduled, 131 minutes to be precise. There was a following 6C25 that I had hoped to catch, but that was also running late and I didn't wait for it. Track relaying was taking place west of Totnes and passenger trains were terminating or starting at Exeter.
For the record this train is made up of 4 x YKA "Osprey" rail carriers, plus a selection of 6 assorted JNA, MLA and IEA spoil wagons.
