It's Laira Open Day and the only photos I take on this visit seems to be of the withdrawn locos in Lipson Sidings! Ruston & Hornsby "PWM" 0-6-0 diesel electric shunter no. 97652 was withdrawn the previous year and would linger on until 1990, when it was broken up at the depot. There were just 5 of these units in the class, all based on the Western Region. Three were preserved, this one and 97953 not being so lucky.
