Half an hour to go before the railtour gets going. At 08.30 South West Trains Class 458/0 "Juniper" EMUs nos. (45)8014 & (45)8006 form our train, the 1Z45 09.02 London Waterloo to Poole, via Haslemere, Aldershot and Woking, a railtour called "The Juniper Factor" operated by UK Railtours. My friend and travelling companion Alan is walking away to find his seat.
It was a good tour although I was less than impressed at the start when a rather officious and patronising official employed by the railtour company, UK Railtours, who, on being informed that someone on the train had apparently been misbehaving, came through our carriage scalding everyone and demanding that we stayed sat in our seats or find ourselves being evicted from the train! From the reaction of everyone around us we hadn't a clue to what he was referring and he did rather make himself look stupid. Give them a tiny scrap of authority and the power goes straight to their head!!
