17th April 2004

Steamy Affairs, a rail tour operator no longer operating, ran this special to Minehead today, the 1Z37 07.38 Milton Keynes to Minehead, with traction supplied with celebrity Class 37/0s nos. 37047 and 37057 "Viking". They are seen here at the unlikely location of Stugumber at 13.27. I had previously shot this train at Creech St. Michael on the main line and then dashed over to here to capture them again!

37057 was the first to receive EWS maroon and gold colours. Its ownership passed to Harry Needle Railroad Co. and then spent a few years working at the Wensleydale Railway but then was acquired by Colas Rail Freight and now works in their main line fleet. 37047 was less fortunate and was cut up in May 2008.
