(1) The main line was closed for engineering work between Hele & Bradninch and Cullompton on this spring day back in 2005. Viewed from a back lane to Bradninch I have this long-lens view across the Culm Valley towards Class 60 no. 60068 "Charles Darwin" and a rake of EWS MHA 4-wheel spoil wagons. The headcode of this train was 6W05. The M5 and River Culm are in clear view in this shot taken at 17.00.
