Catch! The driver of 001 Class no. 051 has unceremoniously thrown the token out towards the signalman whilst running through non-stop. The train is a local freight loaded with (I assume) empty Guinness kegs. This traffic no longer travels by rail, but at the time special open wagons carried hundreds of these across the country. The train will head for Cork.
The 001 Class were originally built by Metropolitan-Vickers, Manchester, in 1955-56. Re-engined with EMD 12-645E power plants these locomotives, with their frowning-faces, were all withdrawn by 1995.
