The late afternoon summer sun lights up the view of "Super Sprinter" (as they were known as then) no. 158807 as it heads south and west on the 16.30 Scarborough to Manchester Piccadilly service. I'm standing at an occupation crossing and as you can see the line speed is 75mph. Yes, I was careful and was checking behind me.
Researching this Class 158 I was amazed to discover that it was one of the units chosen to be converted to a Class 159, now numbered 159105 and a regular on my local line operating for South Western Railway!
