We’re on a rail tour today, heading to Cleethorpes on the "Notts & Lincs Ranger", promoted by the Rail Development Society. So I haven't actually stepped out of the train but instead have this view of 58037 at the head of a rake of HAA MGR coal hoppers, heading somewhere I know not, but this is as representative of an East Midlands coal train as you can get for the period.
On discovering this slide again after so many years I am reminded that Worksop was also home to soup maker Bachelors! Looking on line I see that they are still there, now part of the food conglomerate Premier Foods.
