Long before anyone thought about turning St. Pancras into the international hub it is today, EMU no. 317337 is ready to depart on the 12.13 to Bedford. These units replaced the old Class 127 diesel hydraulic units, but were blacklisted for a while as they ushered in the era of driver-only trains, something that the ASLEF union were not prepared to accept! But all was resolved eventually.

317337 remains in service, working for the Greater Anglia franchise.
