Penistone, South Yorkshire
I wish I had witnessed the Woodhead Route. Its uniqueness as an early electrified mainline, over some spectacular Pennine scenery, would have been a wonderful sight to see. I have to console myself with archive film, and books, to see what I missed. Penistone was a crossroads station, where two routes met and passed each other. The remaining route between Barnsley and Huddersfield is equally scenic though.
