Paignton, Devon
The line to Kingswear was less of a branch and more of a secondary main line. But in 1972 British Rail closed the line from Paignton to Kingswear, which became the preserved steam railway that exists today. I travelled to Paignton many times in the 1980s behind a whole range of classic traction. Hopping on and off trains between Exeter and Paignton was a required activity for a local enthusiast back then!
