Ogden is synonymous with the Union pacific, it once being a major staging point on the transcontinental mainline. West of here the line heads over the Lucin Cut Off and the Great Salt Lake, bypassing the original route over Promontory. Eastwards the route heads for Cheyenne through the Echo Canyon and on to Evanston. Union Station, although not serve id by any passenger trains, is home to a railroad museum, and the UTA FrontRunner service terminates here at the northern end of the network.
