Gloucester, Gloucestershire

Gloucester seems to have had a raw deal, losing its Midland main line station back in 1975 (Eastgate), meaning that through trains would have to reverse in the GWR station. Gloucester has the UK's second-longest platform (the longest being Colchester, Essex) at 1,977ft/602 metres. Just for fun I walked it and it was definitely long! On my first visit to the station Horton Road depot was still open, and was a sure bet to see a few locos stabled, such as 47s, but also something exotic, such as 20s and 40s if you were lucky.
