Flagstaff, AZ

Flagstaff is a great city worth stopping off at, and being at an altitude of 7,000 feet is one of the highest cities in the USA. You are certainly aware of the altitude as you drive the 200 miles or so to Phoenix, seemingly forever downhill into the dusty bowl in the Sonoran Desert! Flagstaff is a major stopping-off point on the famed Route 66 as well, so plenty to keep the tourists in town!
