Bristol St. Philip's Marsh T&RSM Depot

I was fortunate to be able to attend the Open Day held here in May 2016, to mark the 40th anniversary of the High Speed Train. So this selection of images mostly focus on that visit. I am always minded two ways when it comes to special events such as this: the enthusiast in me wants to go, to get into areas of the railway that would not normally be open to public access, and to be able to see locomotives gathered all in one place, many being unusual visitors not normally seen. Then again, these events, by their very nature, are always well supported, so you have to deal with crowds of people, occasionally rude, fighting for space, which can be uncomfortable and frustrating. But this event was well run and brought together a fantastic collection of locos, let alone a large gathering of HST power cars from a number of operators, and the event raised a lot of money for charity. So in the end, I was glad to do my bit!
