6th Sept 2002 - Chicago, IL - 'Metra' network
Situated in the suburbs of Des Plaines, Deval Tower (signal box in UK parlance!) was located at a point where three lines intersected: The UP (ex-C&NW) north west route crosses with the CN (ex-Wisconsin Central) north/south line and UPs ex C&NW north-east/south-west route. I say "was" as in 2005, 3 years after my visit, the tower was destroyed by an arson attack and the remains were demolished sometime after. So this is an historical view for sure!

At 17.43 A commuter train from Chicago Ogilvie Transportation Center "scoots" past at speed double headed by Metra F40PH-2s nos. 164 and 147.
