Perfect views of the depot were had from the long platform at Colchester. Class 31s nos. 31418 and 31425 are the subject of this view. Class 31s were staple motive power on the old Eastern Region and could be found anywhere on the system. I always thought that the "skinhead" variant, without the headcode box, as per 31418 here, looked better.
